National Young Leaders Day

Who inspired me the most was Jamie Fitzgerald because he had lots of humour when he kept on saying 8:30 Tuesdays why he was starting his new series of first crossings. And the message that inspired me the most was when you think your making the least progress your actually making the most progress. So Don't Give Up! - Levi

Angela Swann-Cronin "The Sky is The Limit" that is Angela's motto. Angela was dreaming of being in the Royal New Zealand air force since she was a kid, she believed in her self to follow her dreams, she never let anyone take her down. people may of said Angela your not capable of being in the air force but she didn't let that bring her down. And after all her hard work Angela was the first maori women in the royal new Zealand air force and that's why I thought Angela was the most inspirational speaker for me.  - Memphis

My inspiration was a man with serible pausie   and his name is Cam.
Cam has serible pausie  but that didn't stop him from being an awesome athlete and an awesome speaker.
he inspired me because serible pausie didn't stop him from doing and who he wanted to be .
Cam inspired me to be who you want to be and I will  follow my dreams as he did.
- Alyssa.v

Who inspired me the most... Cam
because... He inspired me the most for what he said he said, "Never give up keep going. Do what you want to do, don't let anyone stop you." He want's to live his dream, talking and speech was his dream, he wanted to do everything he wanted to do before he dies, he told us. He has serible pausie but he still wants to live his dream. Part of his dream was running 100m his goal was to try and beat 17.5sec and his last score was 12.24sec, he completed his goal That's why Cam inspired me the most. By Kayley

The person that inspired me the most was Jamie Fitzgerald. He is a wacky adventurer who stars in the program First Crossings, in which he recreates the journeys of early pioneers in New Zealand. His quote that I remember the most is: "Sometimes, when you think that you're making the least progress, you're actually making the most."

It's Okay!

The kind, friendly, Dental Therapists.

These trained specialists help to keep teeth healthy, clean and fix cavities.

Sharon & Rochelle helped me when I was getting my teeth drilled and filled.
"It's okay!" They will say when you are finished.

"If it hurts you just put your hand up okay?"

I said, "Okay then!" I felt safe.

All I had to do was relax and breathe.  Before you know, it's all over
and they gave me a sprite stamp, as well as a super sticker.
I went back to Constellation Room K feeling like a box of fluffy ducks.

That's the end of the helpful, dental therapists for a while because they
are leaving today to help with the health of other school children's teeth.

I don't know why but I will really miss them.

Thank you for being so lovely!

Wonderful Waitangi Day

Every year on 6th February, New Zealand marks the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi
in 1840.  In that year representatives of the British Crown and over 500 Maori chiefs signed what is often considered to be New Zealand's founding document.   The day was first officially commemorated in 1934 and it has been a public holiday since 1974.

For some people Waitangi Day is a holiday; for many, and especially for Māori,
it is the occasion for reflection of the Treaty. Since the1970s the style and the mood
of the commemorations on Waitangi Day have been influenced by the increasingly
heated debate surrounding the place of the Treaty in modern  New Zealand.

Waitangi Day is recognised as New Zealand's National Day but the long standing tension associated with it are always likely to surface in one form or another.  The date is an important mark in the country's history. Recognition of the Treaty of Waitangi as the nation's founding document will continue to encourage leaders, communities and individuals to mark the day in new ways.
