Wonderful Waitangi Day

Every year on 6th February, New Zealand marks the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi
in 1840.  In that year representatives of the British Crown and over 500 Maori chiefs signed what is often considered to be New Zealand's founding document.   The day was first officially commemorated in 1934 and it has been a public holiday since 1974.

For some people Waitangi Day is a holiday; for many, and especially for Māori,
it is the occasion for reflection of the Treaty. Since the1970s the style and the mood
of the commemorations on Waitangi Day have been influenced by the increasingly
heated debate surrounding the place of the Treaty in modern  New Zealand.

Waitangi Day is recognised as New Zealand's National Day but the long standing tension associated with it are always likely to surface in one form or another.  The date is an important mark in the country's history. Recognition of the Treaty of Waitangi as the nation's founding document will continue to encourage leaders, communities and individuals to mark the day in new ways.

MSS in Action

Our School is a real busy hive of activity.

Arriving back at school 2014 will reveal a lot of changes as the building construction machines on.  Expect the activity to linger on, while we do the best we can with the various disruptions around our place.

Nau mai! Piki mai! Haere mai! Welcome 2014

Constellation Room K is a place for all to shine, each of us stars with our own personalities, talents, qualities, similarities and differences.

Our challenge this term is to relate to each other and combine all our talents to build strong, sincere and positive relationships.  The 'Carecode' of the school is to add brilliance and guidance to our sparkling ways.

How can we best invest in and ensure a supportive, happy place to be striving for our learning goals?

''Have a go, take the risks, make the choice choices, get out of our comfort zones, ...face our fears...overcome our fears...and start learning!!!''

Lets all step up!

May our unique 'Constellation' be shining brighter together, and more vibrant in intensity as the days, weeks, months, and term go by.
